It’s time to gear up for the largest statewide food and fund drive to help restock MN food shelves. The MN Food Share March Campaign is the annual food and fund drive involving the 300 food shelves around the state. 2021 March Campaign runs from Mar 1st through April 11th. The March Campaign is the only statewide food and fund drive that raises more than half the food distributed by the 300 food shelves. The March Campaign also matches the dollar amount donated throughout the month of March.

Remember, for every dollar you donate, we can buy $10 worth of food using our network which includes Second Harvest, Dietz Foods and other organizations. 100% of your money stays in the Maple River area, and 96% goes directly to food. There is no paid staff at MRLF, so you can be assured that your generous gifts are being used for food in our area.

46% of our clients are from Mapleton
    21% from Amboy
    18% from Good Thunder
    10% from MN. Lake
Did you know hunger is still a problem in Minnesota?
Nearly one in eleven Minnesotans experience food insecurity.
12.5% of children in Minnesota are food insecure.
9.5% of Minnesotans live below the poverty level.
Over 3,000,000 visits are made to Minnesota food shelves each year
96% of contributions go directly to food purchases.

    What to collect:
Cash Donations – Easier to collect and deliver. Cash also gives us more flexibility to acquire perishable items like fresh produce, meat and dairy products.

Maple River Loaves and Fishes is located in the back of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton.

  • Mercy in Motion

Shelter the Homeless: ‘Is this not, rather, the fast that I choose: . . . sharing your bread with the hungry, bringing the afflicted and the homeless into your house; clothing the naked when you see them, and not turning your back on your own flesh’ (Is. 58:6-7)? This week, answer Christ’s call to Shelter the Homeless by 1) Praying for those without shelter, as well as those who are forced to leave their home countries; 2) Lowering the thermostat by 5 degrees in solidarity with those who have no warm shelter; 3) Generously supporting your local Habitat for Humanity. For more ideas on how to put Christ’s Mercy in Motion this Lent, visit www.ccsomn.org/mercyinmotion.

#MercyInMotion Campaign: ‘Be merciful, just as your Father is Merciful’ (Lk. 6:36). The last year has been filled with many challenges, whether physical or spiritual, personal or societal. In the face of so many difficulties, we can feel helpless to make a difference in our world. But we are reminded of the words of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, ‘If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.’ Inspired by this ‘little way,’ Catholic Charities is inviting you to join us in our #MercyInMotion Campaign. Each week, we will focus on one of the Corporal Works of Mercy, offering concrete ways in which you can take up the Lenten call to Pray, Fast, and Give alms. Safe Haven Sunday—Equipping the Family: Having Critical Conversations
The constant flood of influence that comes through the internet and social media in all of its various forms, along with social pressures from peers make it difficult for children to live virtuous and holy lives. In the digital age, it’s not a matter of if your child will see something inappropriate online. It’s only a matter of when. And regrettably, internet pornography is teaching our children how and what to think about sex and marriage. Next weekend, February 6 & 7, the Tri-Parish will be celebrating Safe Haven Sunday. This weekend of awareness will provide free resources to you to give you confidence for how to talk to your children about internet dangers, as well as their personal online and offline choices. Please join us with your prayers and presence as we prepare for this unique event. To learn more visit .https://cleanheart.online/diocese-winona-rochester or https://cleanheart.online/blog
